GAME MASTERS

Quests
Quests
QuestXR offers the same opportunity for Game Masters to craft adventures (Quests), that any TTRPG does:
Narrative– set the stage (quests, tasks, goals, rewards, etc.) whether with distinct narrative or within a sandbox environment, with the introduction delivered by video, audio, or even AI-powered NPCs.
Challenges– test players with puzzles, riddles, and mysteries to be solved.
Combat– no Quest would be complete without some conflict.
Encounters – non-combat interactions with NPCs, creatures, deities, etc.
Urgency– set time limits and countdowns or require two tasks to be performed simultaneously.
Real World
Real World
Quests take place in the real world – parks, museums, festivals, convention centers – any location you can imagine.

Simply identify locations for challenges, encounters, combat, etc. which will trigger when players enter the area.

Weave your stories around the location – imagine a National Treasure style storyline at the Smithsonian Institution or dinosaurs coming to life at a natural history museum.

The sky’s the limit!
Mixed-Reality
Mixed-Reality
Use Augmented Reality to bring your stories to life superimposed on the real world.

Create a scene:

1.
Select from a library of creatures, objects, and NPCS, or upload your own creations.
2.
Define the behavior of the elements in the scene based on player actions:
a.
Animation
b.
Audio
c.
Effects
Mixed-Media
Mixed-Media
Use video, audio, image, and text to advance the story, which can be delivered directly or in AR space (e.g., on a video monitor in a control room).

You can upload your own creations or select from a library of customizable assets.

For example, in the Mickey Lewis playable demo game, Mickey, a private investigator, find clues in some documents he receives when he is engaged to find Emily, a missing woman, receives a voicemail to begin the Quest, and can uncover ATM video footage of Emily.
AI
AI
QuestXR offers AI enhancement in several ways:

1.
AI NPCs– with just a few sentences of instruction, an NPC can be trained to naturally engage with players and impart necessary information via conversation rather than requiring specific keywords or phrases.
2.
GenAI– we have integrated several GenAI tools for image, 3D model, and video creation, for your convenience, but use of them is not required.
3.
GM Avatar– since GMs won’t be able to oversee their Quests each time a player party runs them, they will be able to train their personal AI avatars to be their presence in the Quests, acting according to their GM’ing style.
House Rules
House Rules
Not only does BRP support a wide range of optional rules, but also any good GM has their own set of “house rules” which they employ to fit their GM’ing style. GMs may fudge dice rolls, save characters from death, drop a hint, etc. all in the service of making the game more enjoyable or advancing the narrative.

GMs may employ various optional rules and/or rule adjustments when publishing their Quests on platform. We will be building this out over time, so we welcome GM contributions of optional game play enhancements.

Your GM Avatar can be given guidelines on when and how to apply your house rules.

PLAYERS

Characters
Characters
Your characters are your characters.

As with any TTRPG, you shape them the way you want.

Want to get started quickly? Choose from ready-to-play Archetypes – Warrior, Mage, Cleric, and Rogue – with pre-set skills and gear. All characteristic and skill points will be automatically distributed based on the Archetype. In seconds, you are good to go.

Love to agonize over every skill, point distribution, and piece of gear? Go for it. There are 10 steps in BRP character creation. Take a much time as you like to go through each one until you are happy with your characters’ builds.
Avatars
Avatars

Use our built-in GenAI image or 3D model generator
Import your ReadyPlayerMe or other Metaverse avatar
Craft your 3D avatar in Blender or Unity
We support it all.

2. See it in action.
3. Roll for success.
4. Witness the results.
Combat
Combat
Combat follows the BRP round-based rules, with slight modification for real time play.

Statements– Per one of the options in BRP, there are no statements in QuestXR. Players can choose any action when it is their turn.
Powers– Any instantaneous Power can be activated in the Powers phase.
Actions– Combatants (players and NPCs) take their turns based on DEX.
Resolution – Percentile dice are rolled determining success or failure.
Post-combat– Experience checks are performed.
Inventory
Equipment
All your characters’ possessions are listed in their Equipment, including:

Currency
Consumables (potions, food, etc.)
Clothing & fashion
Mundane items (lockpicks, rope, etc.)

About Us

Entertainment and technology experts with over 50 combined years of experience, Adam and Zach have always been on the forefront of emerging technology for the Entertainment Industry. From DVD/Blu-ray mastering and digital distribution to blockchain rights management, they have been involved with pioneering much of the technology and process currently used for digital entertainment distribution.

With QuestXR, they are now turning their talents to creating the next wave of digital entertainment, or rather “edutainment,” by using augmented reality (AR) and other technologies to take the escape room out of confinement and into the world. With venues such as museums, historical sites and botanical gardens, storylines will incorporate history, science and math.

Taking inspiration from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and movies like National Treasure, they are building a fun and challenging game that can be played at any level, with or without others, throughout the world. Players can win rewards by completing interlocking quests that can stand alone or build upon each other.

Basic Roleplaying (BRP) System

The Basic Roleplaying (BRP) system is a system of core rules for tabletop roleplaying created by Chaosium, Inc. It is the underlying game engine for their Call of Cthulhu, Runequest, Stormbringer, and Elfquest TTRPGs, and several others. Several other publishers, including Open Quest, Delta Green, and Cakebread & Walton, also utilize BRP as their game engine.

QuestXR will be 100% compatible with BRP so players will be able to play their existing tabletop characters on the QuestXR platform and vice-versa. GMs will be able to update players' characters with any experience, items, skill progressions, etc. earned in a tabletop game for use in QuestXR. Similarly, players can download their characters' character sheets for tabletop play.
